The math behind $1.99
We get this question constantly. How is this profitable? The honest answer: it’s break-even on the calculator side and profitable on the affiliate side.
Every tariff calculation costs us less than $0.0005 in compute (the daily AI refresh is a fixed cost that amortizes across all users). A $1.99 purchase covers 1,000 calculations at ~$0.50 of compute, leaving ~$1.49 for Gumroad fees (~$0.30), VAT remittance, and a small margin. The real business is the Chrome extension — every time a user clicks Buy on AliExpress from one of our pages, we earn an affiliate commission. That keeps the website calculator essentially a customer-acquisition tool for the extension, which is why the price stays this low.
The alternative — $10/month subscriptions for tariff tools — exists because most B2B calculators target customs brokers, not shoppers. We target shoppers, so we priced it like a coffee.

Most users earn back the $1.99 in saved customs surprises on a single order. Our running cost per calculation is fractions of a cent, and the Chrome extension users generate affiliate revenue when they click through to AliExpress. Both subsidise the calculator.
Do credits roll over if I upgrade again?▾
Yes. Stacking is encouraged. Two purchases = 2,000 credits. Three = 3,000. No cap.
